The Clinton County Historical Association and the League of Women Voters of the North Country are set to co-host a Women’s Equality Day Forum on Wednesday, August 26th, from 4 to 5 pm via Zoom.
This forum will mark the Centennial Anniversary of the adoption of the Nineteenth Amendment of the United States Constitution which prohibits the states and the federal government from denying the right to vote to citizens of the United States on the basis of sex.
Local League member Penelope Clute will offer introductory remarks on the historical significance of the day. Michelle Cromwell, PhD., SUNY Vice President for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion/Chief Diversity Officer will offer a keynote address, “The Crossroads: Where Democracy, Social Justice and Civil Rights Meet.”
The talk will examine the intersection of social justice, democracy and civil rights by exploring the ways that the LWV looks at and works on their issues from an equity-minded lens.
To receive the Zoom link to the Forum, RSVP to Diana Wardell at dmwardell76@gmail.com.
