This trail just south of Upper Jay, Essex County, in the Wilmington Wild Forest ascends 1.5 miles and 650 feet from a trailhead on Styles Brook Road to the shores of Clements Pond where hikers can enjoy views of the scenic pond, shoreline and nearby 2,550-foot Clement Mountain.
From the trailhead the path travels through a lush forest with ferns and step ledges. At about half way the route crosses from the Township of Keene to the Township of Jay. From there rocky terrain makes the approach to the backcountry Clements Pond interesting. The trail will bring you to the north end of the pond, where rhododendrons recall that this was once inhabited.
