Sagamore Hill Temporarily Closed

April 23, 2020 by Editorial Staff Leave a Comment

sagamore hillThe National Park Service (NPS) has announced that Sagamore Hill National Historic Site will be closed to all visitors until further notice in response to concerns from the local community and public health officials. No entry will be allowed into the site, except to employees, residents, and other authorized persons.

Sagamore Hill has seen a sustained increase in visitation over the last two weeks. The park’s trail and sidewalk configurations make it difficult for higher volumes of visitors to regularly follow social distancing guidance from the CDC.

Digital resources available to explore Sagamore Hill National Historic Site and the lives of the Roosevelt Family include:

The official Sagamore Hill National Historic Site website;
Virtual tours of the Roosevelt Home and museum collection through Google Arts and Culture;
The online resources of the Theodore Roosevelt Center at Dickinson State University;
The online resources of Harvard University’s Theodore Roosevelt Collection; and
The website of the Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace National Historic Site.

Updates about NPS operations can be found online.
