This new publication is an expanded offering, including not only History in the Empire State, but also Arts & Culture, Nature & Environment (including wildlife, environmental politics, etc.), and Outdoor Recreation.
(If you’re not already getting our daily news e-mail, sign up for a subscription here).
The New York History Blog, with all of its content, will remain on the ‘History’ page of the new site which will be located here once the transition is complete: www.NewYorkAlmanack.com/categories/history
New York History Blog readers need do nothing to keep receiving the same history content (and now more!) – the old NYHB homepage will soon be automatically redirected to the History section of the new site. There you will still find a focus on the state’s history and it’s history community as we have since 2008. (There will also be a link on the new home page for the History section.)
The New York Almanack is also offering pages by region, with news and stories grouped according to general areas of the state (you can see those already at the menu at the top of the page).
Readers who have followed my work at Adirondack Almanack will find our coverage of Adirondacks here: www.NewYorkAlmanack.com/categories/adirondacks
I expect the new expanded site will increase our existing readership enough to provide support for our efforts.
We’re making this transition during tough times. Any contribution you make at this time will help us pay the necessary bills for this transition and would be greatly appreciated.
