Columbia Co 34th Annual Gallery of Wreaths

November 19, 2019 by Editorial Staff Leave a Comment

holiday wreath provided by Columbia County Historical SocietyColumbia County Historical Society (CCHS) has announced that they are seeking donations of wreaths for the 34th Annual Gallery of Wreaths.

A Columbia County tradition, the Gallery of Wreaths kicks off the holiday season this year by displaying donated wreaths in the circa 1819 James Vanderpoel ‘House of History’ in Kinderhook, during Thanksgiving Weekend, November 29th through December 1st.

The wreaths will be sold through a silent auction held during the exhibition. All proceeds from the auction will benefit CCHS’ Annual ‘Day of History’ Field Trips. The trips are for all Columbia County fourth-graders and include visits to the circa 1850 Ichabod Crane Schoolhouse and the 1737 Luykas Van Alen House. Last year approximately five-hundred county fourth-graders benefited from this educational experience.

A flyer with a submission form and all information needed to enter a wreath is available online, or at the CCHS Library and Vanderpoel House during open hours.

The James Vanderpoel ‘House of History’ is located at 16 Broad Street, Kinderhook.
