October 4, 2019 by Editorial Staff Leave a Comment

Heritage Harvest Horse FestivalFort Ticonderoga is set to host a Heritage, Harvest & Horse Festival on October 5th. The full day of autumn fun will be set in the midst of the King’s Garden heirloom apple trees and a landscape of mountains and Lake Champlain.

Guests are invited to discover the historical importance of horses and other working animals during demonstrations; meet friendly farm animals; stroll through Fort Ticonderoga’s farmers’ market featuring local food, beverages, and crafts; participate in family fun activities; and tackle the six-acre Heroic Corn Maze.

Horse-drawn wagon rides will be available, and there will be homemade foods including jams, jellies and pies to sample, along with regional beer, wine, liquor and mead.

Children’s activities include face painting, sack races, colonial kids’ games, pumpkin painting, flower arranging, pony rides and other hands-on activities.

Attendees will be able to watch heritage animals Mick and Mack, display the heavy hauling power of working oxen, and follow the cry of the foxhunting Green Mountain Hounds. There will also be free-range Heritage Breed Dominique chickens.

Boat cruises are set for 10:30 am, 1 pm and 3:30 pm offering views of the Green and Adirondack Mountains during a 75-minute narrated boat tour aboard the Carillon.

The Heroic Corn Maze features a new design for the 2019 season. Guests are able to find their way through the 6-acre maze by selecting the correct answers to clues connected to Fort Ticonderoga’s history.

Fort Ticonderoga is located at 102 Fort Ti Road, Ticonderoga. For a complete event schedule, or more information, visit Fort Ticonderoga’s website.
