The Hanford Mills Museum is set to hold a Coopering Workshop, where participants can learn how to create an early 19th century-style household bucket, on July 27th and 28th.
Traditional cooper Bob Allers will teach the workshop and lead participants through the process step-by-step. Allers has exhibited his traveling cooperage at Hanford Mills multiple times. He learned the trade of coopering while at the Artisans Program at Fort Stanwix National Monument and training under the master cooper at Genesee Country Village.
The workshop runs from 10 am to 4 pm on July 27, and 10 am to 3 pm on July 28. The cost, which includes all materials, is $125 for Hanford Mills members, $150 for non-members. Register for the workshop online, by calling (607) 278-5744, or by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. The workshop is limited to 5 attendees and is intended for ages 18+, or 16+ with parent participation.
