June 6, 2019 by Editorial Staff 1 Comment

revolutionary new yorkThe Office of State History, in partnership with the National Park Service, the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, and the Institute for Thomas Paine Studies at Iona College began facilitating planning meetings to discuss New York’s commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution.

The first two meetings were held May 31st at the Saratoga National Historical Park in Stillwater, and June 4th at the Institute for Thomas Paine Studies at Iona College in New Rochelle. On June 27th (from 1 to 4 pm) there will be a meeting at Ganondagan State Historic Site in Victor, Ontario County, NY.

These initial planning meetings are expected to facilitate discussion related to how New York State can and should commemorate the Revolution as well as act as information sharing of what plans may already be in place at the organizational level.
