The Historical Society of Woodstock is set to present a series of events to complement the exhibit, Woodstock Music: In Tune with the Times, 1600 – Present, previewing at the Eames House Museum, 20 Comeau Drive, Woodstock, on June 15 from noon to 4 pm, with a talk and performance by Woodstock musician Rennie Cantine. Not to be confused with the 50th anniversary of the 1969 Woodstock festival in Bethel, NY, the Historical Society of Woodstock celebration will look back at the music of the Northern Delaware tribes of the 1600s to the musicians of today. In addition to indigenous music, the Exhibit will include church hymns, songs of the workers in the 1800s, music of the early 1900’s art colony, mid- century folk music, and the explosion of folk, rock and other contemporary music in the 1960s and 70s up to the present. Although it did not take place in the Town, the 1969 Woodstock festival will be included.
The Exhibit Preview on June 15, noon to 4 pm, features Woodstock musician Rennie Cantine speaking about his experiences. Cantine, the founder of the popular Woodstock Guitar Festival, fronts for the band Rip Van Ren and performs in a duet with Sabrina Miller. He and Sabrina will perform together at the June 15 preview. The Preview is a NYS Path Through History event.
