A New History of Bethesda Episcopal in Saratoga

history of bethesda episcopal churchBethesda Episcopal Church in Saratoga Springs, established in 1830, has published A History of Bethesda Episcopal Church: Worship and Healing in Saratoga Springs, New York.

The book examines the role of Bethesda in the Saratoga Springs community and in New York for nearly two hundred years. Within its pages are stories and photographs that document the life of Bethesda in the midst of wars, social upheavals, and celebrations. The book was edited by Jane Murray Agee, PhD, and co-edited by Mary Sanders Shartle. A diverse group of people, including professional writers, historians, Bethesda communicants and others in the community, authored the chapters.

The hard cover book measures 11″ x 8.5″, with a dust jacket, sewn binding and acid-free 70 # paper, includes 336 pages plus an 8-page color insert. It includes many historical photos from the church archive as well as more recent photos.
