The Hadley-Lake Luzerne Historical Society’s 46th Anniversary Luncheon Celebration, “A Fateful Invitation: Lincoln’s Assassination,” has been set for Saturday, May 4, 2019, at noon, at the Longhorn Restaurant, 1379 Lake Ave, (Route 9N) in Lake Luzerne.
Local Albany author and historian Mark Bodnar will be the guest speaker. He will discuss the story of John Wilkes Booth’s last victims. Rathbone and his fiance Clara Harris attended the play performance as Lincoln’s guests on the fateful night of April 14, 1865. Bodnar will take attendees through the trials they faced in their once happy life and will explore the possibilities and questions which still linger about that night.
Bodnar has been past President of the Town of Colonie Historical Society and is an authoritative figure on the Albany Rural Cemetery. He has spoken to countless historical organizations from Glens Falls to Gettysburg.
The cost of the luncheon and program is $20. RSVP by May 2nd to (518) 403-4042.
