The Friends of Schoharie Crossing State Historic Site is set to welcome NYS Canal Corporation Section Supervisor David Lamphere on Tuesday, April 23rd.
Lamphere will cover how Canal Corp regulates water levels by use of moveable dams, as well as other topics of hydrology and pertaining to operations of the over 100 year old Barge Canal.
Lamphere has been employed on the canal for over twenty years. His entire career is been in operations between the E15 to E8 section. Born and raised in Fort Plain and now residing in the Canajoharie area, Lamphere has a unique and local perspective on the operations of the canal.
This program will take place in the Enders House on Schoharie Street in Fort Hunter at 6:30 pm.
The Friends of Schoharie Crossing will hold their first meeting of the year just prior to the presentation. During this brief meeting, topics will range from the planning of Canal Days and Canal Clean Sweep activities to installing a Quilt Barn Square on site.
