New Netherland Conference Call for Papers

February 14, 2019 by Editorial Staff Leave a Comment

The New Netherland Institute (NNI) has announced they are now accepting presentation proposals for their 42nd Annual Conference, which will be hosted by the Hudson River Valley Institute at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, on October 5, 2019.

The program committee welcomes proposals on any aspect of the seventeenth-century Dutch colony, including projects in other media such as films, online exhibits, and other digital projects. Proposals that highlight the legacy of New Netherland are also encouraged.

Proposals will be selected based on their contributions to New Netherland scholarship as well as how they fit into an emerging theme. Submit proposals of about 300 words and a one-page CV to nni@newnetherlandinstitute.org by May 1, 2019. All submissions will be acknowledged by email. If you do not receive an acknowledgement, resubmit or follow up.

A limited amount of funds will be available to help defray the cost of attendance for speakers. Details will be provided when an applicant is notified of an accepted proposal.

For more than four decades, the New Netherland Institute and its affiliates have helped shed light on the long-neglected history of the settlements that laid the foundation for much of today’s mid-Atlantic region. NNI supports the New Netherland Research Center in partnership with the New York State Office of Cultural Education, the parent agency of the State Library and State Archives.
