Sagamore Hill National Historic Site is set to celebrate the 160th Birthday of Theodore Roosevelt with schedule of activities including a performance by the Long Island Vegetable Orchestra at 2 pm on Saturday, October 27, 2018.
Activities will kick-off with a moderate walk around the grounds of Sagamore Hill to view the fall colors. There will also be a children’s craft available at conclusion of the hike. Attendees should meet behind the Visitor Center at 11 am, and be sure to wear comfortable shoes.
Following the nature walk, join a park ranger at 1 pm for an interactive music program including historic recordings and a live performance of period music. Much of American music published between 1898 and 1920 reflect the influence of the Roosevelts’ popularity among the public, but their personal interests reflect the influence of sentimentality and a desire to develop new, uniquely American traditions in their music.
