Historic Sites Featured In Hudson Skywalk Arts Festival

Hudson River Skywalk The Hudson River Skywalk Arts Festival is set for Sunday, September 30th, free events will be held at the Thomas Cole State Historic Site Site, Olana and the Rip Van Winkle Bridge.

The Thomas Cole State Historic Site will hold a Community Day from 1 to 4 pm, featuring free admission, activities for the whole family, live music, “Postcards from the Trail” pop-up exhibition and book signing with Hudson Talbott.

Historic Bridges of the Hudson Valley at the Rip Van Winkle Bridge will feature plein air painting, exhibiting local artists and live music from 1 to 4 pm. From 2 to 4 pm Olana and the Ancram Opera House with David Lane will present Cole and Church puppets.

From 4 to 6 pm, the Olana State Historic Site will offer free horse-and-wagon-rides at twilight from the Visitor Center to the picnic area overlooking the Bridge.

By November, the continuous walkway from the Thomas Cole State Historic Site to Olana across the Hudson River will be complete. The new walkway will physically connect the historic homes and studios of the the leading Hudson River School artists with the Hudson River Valley landscapes that inspired them.

The Festival is supported by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the State of New York and Empire State Development’s I LOVE NEW YORK program under the Market NY Initiative.
