Rome Historical Society’s 2018 Home Tour Set

July 22, 2018 by Editorial Staff Leave a Comment

rome historical societyThe Rome Historical Society has invited the public to take a tour of historic Rome and Westernville during its inaugural Tour of Homes community celebration on Sunday, July 29th from noon to 5 pm.

Eight noteworthy properties and their unique histories will be showcased as the Society re-activates a community tradition during Honor America Days weekend. This year’s Tour of Homes includes both residential and commercial buildings, ranging from an 1856 former church to a newly-built historic home reproduction, to the 1894 mansion of a significant Rome leader. Patrons may visit each property at their leisure and in the order they choose.

Tour guests can learn about the histories of each building and about the community at the time of their construction, and also see special exhibits and other activities at many of the tour stops. Further information and displays relative to the properties will be available at the Rome Historical Society that day.

Tour tickets may be purchased starting July 2nd at the Rome Historical Society or at any of the showcased buildings on the day of the tour. Tickets may also be purchased in advance of the Tour from any of our community business partners in Rome: Brenda’s Natural Food, Darkroom Unlimited, Engelbert’s, Hummel’s, La Belle Vie, Olney’s and the Rome Chamber of Commerce. Tickets are $20 per person for general admission and $15 for current RHS members purchasing tickets at the Society.

For more information, call (315) 336-5870 or visit the Rome Historical Society’s website.
