On Thursday, January 25, 2018, the American Revolution Round Table: Hudson/Mohawk Valleys is planning to host “Industrious Sober Women: Soldier’s Wives in Burgoyne’s Army” by Jenna Schnitze in Schuylerville.
The talk is an overview of the roles of soldier’s wives during the Burgoyne Campaign. It will explore the some of the myths and perceptions of these women. Schnitzer will be using primary sources and period images to illustrate their roles and what they may have looked like.
Schnitzer has been a Historical Interpreter for 25 years. She has been a historic seamstress for individuals, historic sites and private organizations for over a decade. She is a researcher who focuses on the lives and material culture of women and children who followed the British Army with special emphasis on Burgoyne’s campaign of 1777. She lives in an 18th Century house near Bennington Battlefield with her husband Eric.
This program will be held at the Saratoga Town Hall located at 12 Spring St, Schuylerville. The event starts at 6:30 pm with time for socializing and networking with the programming starting at 7 pm.
