Suffrage Centennial: Erie Canal VoteTilla Launches

votetillaVoteTilla set out from Seneca Falls on July 17 at 10 am, traveling the Erie Canal towards its first landing at Clyde, NY at 3:45 pm.

Scheduled events in Clyde included an official welcome from local dignitaries and a Community Picnic with a Bluegrass Band and VoteTilla Reenactors performing “Roots of Social Reform.”

On Tuesday, July 18, VoteTilla will depart Clyde at 9 am and travel to Lyons, arriving at 11 am, where the town has scheduled several community events. For a full listing of daily VoteTilla events through the week, click here.

VoteTilla, a celebration of the 100th anniversary of women winning the right to vote in New York State, takes place on the Erie Canal, with a core of five canal boats, and will be followed up by a weekend of events in Rochester, including the inaugural ROC Women’s Music Festival 5 to 10 pm on July 21, the Suffragist City Parade and Celebration starting at 10 am on July 22.
