Civil War Weekend at Robert Moses State Park July 29-30

slcha childrens musterThe St. Lawrence County Historical Association will hold their annual Civil War Reenactment Weekend at Robert Moses State Park, Massena.

The 16th annual Reenactment will take place Saturday and Sunday July 29-30.

Union and Confederate reenactors will stage mock battles, perform military drills, talk about camp life, and demonstrate cooking, spinning, ladies’ aid, cannon firing, and medical practices.

There will also be a children’s muster, a court martial, historical displays, and period music. Military and civilian reenactors from New York, Vermont, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Ontario and Quebec, Canada are expected to attend, as well as sutlers, vendors of period goods and clothing.

Robert Moses State Park is located at 32 Beach Marina Road, Massena. Admission is $4 per person per day, with a maximum charge of $16 per vehicle; veterans and children 6 and under enter free. For more information, call the SLCHA at (315) 386-8133, e-mail info@slcha.org, or visit their website.

The military camps are open to the public from 10 am to 6 pm on Saturday, and 10 am to 2 pm on Sunday. Mock battles will be at 3 pm. Saturday and 1 pm Sunday. Closing ceremonies will follow the Sunday battle. The Marine Corps League, St. Lawrence County Detachment #408 provides a food concession both days.
