Family Fun At Adirondack Museums During Presidents’ Week

AdirondackMuseum-FrostFest_Snowshoeing The Adirondack Museum and The Wild Center are offering a variety of winter activities during the upcoming Presidents’ Week.

The Wild Center in Tupper Lake will be open every day through February 21st celebrating the season with a different winter theme each day. The Wild Center’s winter hours are usually Friday through Sunday, so this is indeed a special treat for everyone. The staff at the Wild Center is pulling out all the stops with special guided snowshoe walks, live animal encounters and even a winter watercolor project.

The Adirondack Museum is making sure there is plenty to celebrate in Blue Mountain Lake with its free FrostFest event. Through February 21s, from 10 am to 4 pm, the Adirondack Museum is opening their doors for a unique opportunity to explore their campus during the winter season. Whether it’s a quick pit stop to another Central Adirondack location or the destination of choice, the Adirondack Museum will be open for winter games and snowshoe hikes. Take time to explore the area and search for signs of wildlife.

Some of the permanent exhibits, such as Work in the Woods: Logging in the Adirondacks, Boats and Boating and Woods and Water: Outdoor Recreation in the Adirondacks will be open as well as a few temporary exhibitions with no admission charge. There will be plenty of family fun for children of all ages. Make sure to stop by to make a 3-D paper snowflake, ask about the family scavenger hunt or head toward the s’more making station. Also schedule time for a family portrait inside a life-sized snow globe.

For those full-time residents of the Adirondack Park, FrostFest is the time to renew your Adirondack Museum individual, companion or family membership. Year-round residents can receive a 50% discount. Enjoy winter!
