The Cayuga Museum, in Auburn, is beginning a new monthly program. Called simply word., the new event will debut on Thursday, February 19 at 7 pm in Theater Mack. Writers can share their original work with the audience – poems, short stories, essays, segments of larger work, the spoken word, or more. Poetry, fiction or non-fiction, read or recited, word. is meant to celebrate the writer’s art and help local writers find their voice.
To secure a spot on the evening’s program, writers can sign up in advance by emailing the museum at cayugamuseum@verizon.net, or calling (315) 253-8051. Audience members or other spontaneous readers are welcome to share their work after those who have signed up in advance have read. There will be a $3 cover fee at the door and beer, wine and soft drinks will be available.
word. is scheduled for the third Thursday of each month through May. If the program proves successful – developing both a group of writers who want to share and an audience who wants to listen — word. will be back in September after The Pitch is over for the season in Theater Mack.
The Cayuga Museum is located at 203 Genesee Street, Auburn, NY.
