SUNY Albany History Professor David Hochfelder will explore the 19th century economic and transportation innovations that positioned the U.S. as a power house on the world stage, with New York at the forefront in a talk presented this Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 2 pm at the Schenectady County Historical Society, 32 Washington Ave., Schenectady, NY.
Hochfelder’s research interests include the U.S. history of technology, history of capitalism, public history, and future studies. His recent publications include The Telegraph in America: A History (John Hopkins University Press, 2012) and “Two Controversies in the Early History of Telegraphy”, (IEEE Communications Magazine, 2010).
The Schenectady County Historical Society is wheelchair accessible, with off-street parking behind the building and overflow parking next door at the YWCA.
